Welcome to the AIR Lab

Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering

College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, North Carolina State University

At the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (AIR) Lab, we use AI, robotics, and innovative technologies to drive innovation in precision livestock farming and sustainable agriculture. We combine machine learning, automation, sensing technologies, and data-driven solutions to improve animal health, welfare, food quality, and environmental outcomes.

Our Research Interests:

  • Artificial intelligence (AI) and predictive analytics
  • Robotics, UGV, and UAV automation
  • Computer vision, sensors, and IoT technology
  • Animal behavior, welfare, food safety, and sustainability
  • Air quality, greenhouse gas emissions, and disease prevention

What We Work On:

  • Artificial intelligence and robotics
  • Computer vision and sensor technologies
  • Health monitoring for poultry, cattle, and swine
  • Real-time animal behavior and welfare monitoring
  • Automation in poultry and livestock research and processing
  • ML for precision feeding and breeding
  • Rapid, non-destructive food quality testing
